Acupuncture for Fertility: A Natural Solution

Acupuncture for Fertility: A Natural Solution

The challenge with trying to conceive is the trying part when things aren’t going as planned. It can feel so lonely. There is nothing more upsetting than trying to conceive and not being successful. Once joyous sex becomes perfunctory and honed for timing, all the while; friends seem to pop out babies with no trouble at all. While one wants to be happy, there is an undertone of resentment (understandably) and wondering, “What is wrong with me? Why can’t I have a child and be happy too?”

Thankfully or unthankfully, there are communities online where people can chat about such things, but sometimes those places don’t benefit one’s mental health. It can lead to more stress which makes it harder to conceive. It’s a brutal state of affairs.

MY HISTORY WITH TREATING INFERTILITY

In this post, I’ll talk about acupuncture and its role in fertility, and I’ll discuss some of my findings in my clinic, which at times has had 95% of my clients trying to get pregnant. Many of them did and birthed very healthy babies. Can I take credit? That would be hubris. But I believe I participated in the process, offering my expertise, giving encouragement, and a shoulder to lean on.

WHO HAVE MY CLIENTS BEEN OVER THE YEARS FOR FERTILITY?

Well, everyone. Some were heterosexual couples, where the man had no viable sperm, and it had to be aspirated from his testes, luckily not by me, to women who did not ovulate or just miscarried again and again. Some couples were gay women who conceived by IUI, IVF, or with the help of a male friend. Lastly, many of my patients have been single women who, having not found a life partner, decided to go alone. Some women have had PCOS; others have not. Some women came for treatment who were healthy, even though the fertility issue was with their husbands…

I have aided in the birth of over 100 babies. There are many factors at play in the universe, and I cannot draw a one-to-one correlation that I made this happen, although some of my Google reviews may beg to differ. That said, I believe I helped in meaningful ways.

Let’s get down to the facts.

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE HELP FERTILITY?

Acupuncture can improve your fertility in several ways:

Balances hormones:

Acupuncture stimulates the endocrine system, which is responsible for producing and releasing hormones that affect ovulation, menstruation, and pregnancy. By balancing the levels of hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone (LH), acupuncture may help better prepare your body for fertility treatment.

Increases blood flow:

Acupuncture helps to increase blood circulation to the reproductive organs, especially the uterus and ovaries. This may improve the quality and quantity of eggs and the thickness and receptivity of the uterine lining. A well-nourished uterus and ovaries can increase your chances of conceiving and carrying a healthy baby.

Reduces stress:

Stress can have a negative impact on your fertility by disrupting your hormonal balance, affecting your ovulation, and lowering your libido. Acupuncture is known to reduce stress by stimulating the release of endorphins. It also can calm your nervous system and lower your blood pressure, improving your overall health and well-being.

Other fertility benefits:

Fertility acupuncture can regulate menstrual cycles, improve egg quality and follicle count, increase success rates of IUI/IVF/FET, reduce side effects of IUI/IVF medications and IVF procedures, thicken the uterine lining for implantation, improve sperm count, motility, and morphology, reduce risk of miscarriage.
