FAQ: Some Questions You Might Have
After two or three treatments, most patients feel substantially better. Some people feel better right away, while other people's results take longer. This can depend on the patient's age or how severe or seemingly protracted the condition is.
I treat my patients how I would like to be treated, so that means needle insertions are very gentle. Can it hurt? It's possible, about 1 in 1000 needles I insert are uncomfortable for my clients. That said, there’s a chance of bruising with cupping and guasha. If you are on blood thinners, please contact your doctor before booking a session.

We do not process insurance in-house; however, we are happy to provide you with a receipt that has the necessary coding for you to submit to your provider. We recommend checking with your insurance company to see if you are covered for acupuncture and, if so, what specific conditions your insurance company covers acupuncture for.
My practice is by appointment only. This allows me to focus 100% of my energy on one patient at a time without distraction. That said, I often have a waitlist for cancellations. Sign up for the waitlist if the date you are interested in is unavailable.

I have been seeing Dr. Catherine weekly for several months to treat back and knee pain associated with my lack of mobility after surgery. Her office is a lovely, relaxing space where I feel a calm, peaceful energy as soon as I walk in the door and feel an improvement after each visit. She really does know how to heal your body, mind and spirit.

I visited Dr. Catherine to address my lower back pain. At the start of the appointment when I walked in, I almost was unable to extend my back fully without pain. One hour later at the end I was amazed with the result, because I was completely relieved and was able to move freely. Second time I came back for the shoulder and saw the immediate effect and relief as well.

I saw Dr. Catherine for a flare of my chronic back pain. As a primary care doctor, I have sent patients to her for years with rave reviews, so knew I was in good hands. The acupuncture was serene and centering, and helped my back pain tremendously the following day. This little office is a gem in Newport and I will continue to recommend her repeatedly and can't wait to return for another session.

How Acupuncture Helps with Back Pain
Acupuncture is a traditional therapy rooted in the concept of energetics within the body. It involves the insertion of needles into specific points on the body, which are not intended to cause pain, harm, or discomfort.
Acupuncturist's targets specific energy points, known as "qi" in Chinese medicine, or meridians, during treatment. Some of these meridians are particularly beneficial for addressing painful nerves and muscles in the back.
Stimulating these points not only targets pain relief but also engages parts of the nervous system.
