Acupuncture Treatments for Digestive Disorders

Digestion is Complex

After eating, your food is broken into the smallest constituents and enter your 28,000,000,000 cells, if you’re an adult female. Inside the cells, mitochondria make ATP, the body's “energy currency,” allowing your nerves to fire, your heart to beat, and a million other things. Food that isn’t used travels through the digestive system, and you excrete it. Ahhhh if it were that easy! Acupuncture can help offer a non-pharmacological approach to addressing digestive disorders.

Why Acupuncture?

Addressing digestive issues is something acupuncture does very well. Acupuncture can have a balancing effect on the parasympathetic nervous system, also called the “rest and digest” system, by either stimulating or relaxing gut movement to reduce bloating, pain after eating, acid reflux, diarrhea, or constipation. Acupuncture's approach to treating digestive disorders is personalized, taking into account each individual's specific symptoms and overall health. I provide tailored treatment plans that target the root causes of digestive issues while addressing the person's unique concerns.

One Treatment is not enough

Digestive improvements don’t happen overnight, so be prepared to come for 6-8 acupuncture treatments and be open to changing elements of your diet that might be making your digestive troubles worse.

About Your Treatment

A Tailored Approach

My practice is dedicated exclusively to women's health and beauty. I specialize in acupuncture, lymphatic drainage, and herbal remedies to help women achieve vibrant health and natural beauty. Each session is unique and adjusts to the ever-changing balance of body, mind, emotion, and environment we experience as women.

How it works

Through Acupuncture, I approach health issues by unblocking the underlying energy within our bodies. We call this energy,qi (pronounced “chee”), and our job is to identify blockages in the body and insert needles to allow qi to flow more smoothly. My goal is for you to leave your session feeling relaxed and renewed.

Pricing & Duration

  • The Signature Acupuncture treatment session lasts 1 hour and 10 minutes and costs $175.
  • The Intensive Acupuncture treatment session lasts 2 hours and 10 minutes and costs $350.

Common Questions

About Acupuncture Treatments

How long does it take to see results?

After four or five treatments, most patients feel substantially better. Some people feel better right away, while other people's results take longer. Digestive improvements don’t happen overnight, so be prepared to come for 6-8 acupuncture treatments and be open to changing elements of your diet that might be making your digestive troubles worse. This can depend on the patient's age or how severe or seemingly protracted the condition is.

What makes your practice unique?

My practice is about creating a sanctuary where women's health is nurtured and elevated to its highest potential. I have been combining Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern wellness techniques for almost 20 years, specializing in acupuncture, lymphatic drainage, and herbal remedies, which has helped hundreds of women achieve vibrant health and natural beauty. This work is about being 100% present. One-on-one, focused attention allows me to understand my patients on a deep level. I only see one patient at a time to reduce every distraction possible to provide the best care. My goal with each treatment is to tailor an approach that suits your current state of being and helps you achieve a state of wellness inside and out.

How often should I come for acupuncture?

Digestive improvements don’t happen overnight, so be prepared to come for 6-8 acupuncture treatments.  I aim to address your wellness concerns and get you on your way, not keep you in treatment forever.

Do you accept insurance?

I don’t accept insurance directly, but many of my clients submit for reimbursement. I can provide you with all the necessary documentation for insurance.

Do these treatments hurt?

I treat my patients how I would like to be treated, so that means needle insertions are very gentle.  Can it hurt?  Sure, about 1 in 1000 needles I insert are uncomfortable for my clients. If you are on blood thinners, please contact your doctor before booking a session.

Will I feel okay resuming work after a treatment?

Absolutely.  Please know you may be very relaxed.  Schedule a little downtime after the visit to enjoy this new presence of mind.

What should I wear for a treatment?

Loose-fitting clothing is excellent.

Should I eat anything before a treatment?

Yes, a light snack is ideal.

Where is Dr. Catherine's office?

10 Deblois Street, Newport, RI 02840, off Bellevue in beautiful Newport.

Is there parking?

There is on-street parking; just make sure to read the signage.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a fee equal to 100% of the service total.

Is there a waiting area?

My entranceway is quite ample, but there is no waiting room. You’ll want to arrive within 5 minutes or so of your appointment start time, and I'll be ready to greet you.

Do you accept walk-ins?

My practice is by appointment only. This allows me to focus 100% of my energy on one patient at a time without distraction. That said, I often have a waitlist for cancellations. Feel free to text me if the date you are interested in is unavailable.

I was very skeptical of the general idea of acupuncture, but honestly, Catherine is amazing and has totally converted me. I have to admit I still do not understand how it works at all, but it definitely works. Highly, highly recommended.
