Sleep is my drug of choice! I love slipping into bed at night and sighing with pleasure at having crossed the finish line of another day. Sweet relief! If I sleep through the night, in the morning, I feel like Super Woman—or maybe Cat-Woman—empowered and ready to kick ass. If I don't sleep…well, it's unpleasant, and a tsunami alert should go out to my kids and husband.

A patient asked me recently about my skincare routine, and honestly? My biggest secret isn't something I put on my face—it's how I sleep.

Maybe you're waking at 3 a.m. with your mind racing. Maybe you're tossing and turning for hours. Or maybe your dream life is so vivid and intense that sleep feels as exhausting as being awake. Sound familiar?

This evening protocol takes advantage of your body's natural repair processes during the hour before sleep, when skin renewal is most active. These intentional practices prepare both body and skin for overnight restoration.

By combining gentle cleansing, targeted treatments, and relaxation techniques, this ritual creates good conditions for cellular repair while releasing tension held in facial tissues. Practised consistently, many women find it helps them wind down and sleep more soundly.

Closing Thoughts

Remember that the true power of this ritual lies not in perfect execution but in consistent practice. Some evenings you might complete every step, while others might call for an abbreviated version—and that's perfectly fine. It's about creating a transition from day to night, letting both mind and skin shift into restoration mode. When we cool the body, calm the nervous system, and keep a consistent rhythm, sleep almost always follows.
